Speaker Paula Becker discussed Betty MacDonald’s life and work in an illustrated lecture focusing on Betty’s youth in the North Capitol Hill neighborhood, and signed her new book Looking For Betty MacDonald. Scholarship Chair Twila Meeks presented 2016-2017 scholarship winner Hana Feseha with a $2000.00 check from the Woman’s Century Club. New members Patty Whisler and Hana Feseha were welcomed in to the club with our traditional white rose ceremony.

The Woman’s Century Club enjoyed an interesting presentation by Jackie Williams on “Tales of a Culinary Collection, or Why I Collect What I Do”. Jackie, a noted food historian put together a comprehensive collection of potato cookbooks which is now at the University of Washington library. All the food for the luncheon was made with potatoes – even the brownies!
